Pawnee is a city and county seat of Pawnee County, Oklahoma, United States. It was named for the Pawnee tribe , which was relocated to this area between 1873 and 1875. 

 

Pawnee is the birth place of two Medal of Honor recipients; Major Kenneth Dillon Bailey of the United States Marine Corps and Lieutenant Commander Ernest Edwin Evans of the United States Navy.

Pawnee is also the home of Chester Gould creator of the Dick Tracy cartoon strip.
